2026 Mentor Month Host Expression Of Interest
This October, we’re doing something different. Across Australia, we’re aiming to connect our experienced hunters with members who are eager to learn.
We are looking for members to act as volunteer hosts to lead a “Hunting Basics” session. This isn’t about professional guiding; it’s about a relaxed day in the field sharing the craft we love.
Your Day, Your Way
The beauty of this initiative is its flexibility. As a host, you decide the pace and the program based on your style and location. Whether you’re on public land or a private station, your session could include:
- The Fundamentals: Understanding wind direction, identifying fresh sign, and reading the terrain.
- The Approach: Stalking techniques and how to move through the bush undetected.
- The Toolkit: Gear selection, GPS/map navigation, and glassing tips.
- The Result: If the stars align and an animal is harvested, you can demonstrate the essentials of humane dispatch and field dressing.
It doesn’t even have to be a “live” hunt. If you’d prefer to leave the rifles and bows at home and focus on woodcraft, tracking, and stalking animals just to get eyes on them, that is just as valuable.
How it Works
We aim to keep groups small—just you and 1 to 3 members. This ensures a safe, high-quality experience where people feel comfortable asking questions. You provide the knowledge; we provide the eager learners.
Ready to help grow the next generation of hunters? Please fill out our volunteer form below. Let us know your general location and what kind of session you’d be comfortable running, and we’ll be in touch to help coordinate the rest.
